"Let me be clear: I'm wealthy, I'm ‒ you know ‒ sorted." Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.

Nothing more to say really.

And...possibly it's sudenly hitting home that rents for all that office space and retail space might fall and even property prices themselves!! As every good neoliberal knows, this will bring about the end of civilisation.

Follow the money. The getting people back to the office IS ONLY about building owners, office, retail and hospitality are just rent payers.

A longer comment will be forthcoming but meanwhile similar instructions emanated from the ‘office of jassy’ .. with a lot more reaction .. because clearly Luxon doesn’t have the pull of someone who ‘runs a large shop in the US’.

Thanks for resharing. Good info. But its impossible to convince certain mindsets about the randomness of success. Society keeps insisting on and glorifying the myth that any individual can exceed on their own merits alone. Its utter BS. So much of what we currently deem as success is more about luck and prevailing currents than it is about individual competency

It’s not about the coffee. It is not about the cafes.

It’s the building owners. FOLLOW THE MONEY!

Nat have scored an own goal by destroying retail in Wellington, and the property developers will enforce rental on the business owners till the day they close or move.

Personally as a public servant and seeing the incredible wastage across two govt depts and out of touch national offices in Wellington stuffing themselves with more and more highly paid advisors over the last 5 years while contributing zip to the Frontline I am praying for more Wellington job losses.
