If you live in Auckland (where everything important happens and EVERYONE lives) the South Island is an irrelavency.

I lived in Auckland once and I love them, but it’s very true that the people there who are From Auckland really are only aware of Themselves as New Zealand. Very much the Online-American attitude of Aotearoa.

Good flag though.

When I was a kid my dad used to joke about cutting the Cook Straight cable and letting the NI float away.

Now I live in Auckland and know I’ll get a bollocking from certain rellies every time I visit.

Seriously though SI roads are so much better than they used to be but other public services/ assets are going to shit under this lot.
